Colameco's

I was Lead Graphic Designer for Colameco’s complete brand overhaul, which aimed to elevate its line of Italian heritage food products.

Collaborating closely with the Third Street Team, I developed a new visual identity that better reflected the quality, tradition, and authenticity at the heart of the brand, helping it stand out in the increasingly crowded specialty food market. This comprehensive effort included the full rebrand and a complete redesign of nine SKUs (with additional products still in development). I ensured the updated identity effectively wove in rich, classic typography and visual storytelling rooted in family tradition.

 

The successful result earned the brand two industry awards and now proudly honors its legacy while competing effectively in the modern market.

Challenge And Outcome

  1. The Challenge- Colameco’s set out to undergo a complete brand overhaul to elevate its line of Italian heritage food products. In a saturated specialty food market, the existing brand lacked the clarity and visual appeal needed to communicate the product’s quality, tradition, and authenticity.

  2. The Goal - Redefine the brand from the ground up that included a logo, packaging, and point-of-sale materials to establish a premium identity rooted in Italian family heritage and artisanal craftsmanship.

  3. The Approach - Redesigned nine SKUs (with more in development), weaving together rich typography, golden hues, and a custom family crest. Inspired by the warmth of Italian regional culture, the new visual system features vibrant food photography and sunset tones to evoke a timeless, high-quality aesthetic that resonates with both consumers and retailers.

  4. The Outcome - The refreshed brand made an immediate impact. Energizing retail partners, captivating shoppers, and driving record-breaking sales. Colameco’s earned two prestigious honors: an American Packaging Award from the Chicago Advertising Federation and a Packaging Design Award from Graphic Design USA, solidifying its elevated presence in the market.
